Why Your Facebook Ads Aren’t Working: 5 Tips for Higher Click Through Rate

November 18, 2020 / by Andrew / Leave a Comment

You must already know the power of Facebook ads, right? They give you the ability to spend very little while targeting your ideal demographic with pinpoint accuracy. In addition, they have a range of options that with some minor tweaks, can seriously benefit your business.

If you are running ads already and need some pointers, then we can help. Read our handy guide below on how to improve your click through rate.

1. Audience Test the Click Through Rate

With such a range of choices, finding your audience on Facebook ads can take some time and a little experimentation. This means checking the demographics of people who are clicking on your ads, then tailoring your advert for them specifically.

If you find that no one is clicking, it may be time to change your target audience. Run campaigns for at least three days before changing or tweaking an ad campaign, so you have time to see the results of your changes.

2. Leverage Re-Targeting

Re-targeting is a great way to lower your cost per click. It targets people who have already visited your page or website, meaning they have familiarity and trust with your brand. This makes them more likely to take action.

Facebook lets you re-target people in two ways. The first is to target people who have interacted with your business, either through visiting your page, commenting on your media, watching your videos, and other various methods. The second is to upload a list of blog subscribers, email addresses, and past customer details.

3. Manage Your Facebook Page

When you run Facebook ads, it stands to reason that people are going to visit your page to get more of an idea about your company. When they arrive, they need to see a vibrant community full of comments, posts, videos, and pictures. If they don’t see this, they will move to a page that does.

Manage your page as you would any other facet of the business. Respond to customer comments and queries, and even add a touch of humor. You will soon build a rapport that encourages customer loyalty for new and returning visitors.

4. Try Multiple Ad Formats

Just as you should experiment with your demographic, it will pay to experiment with advertising formats. One of the most popular formats is video, and if you have not tried it, then getting a quality video together can really boost your campaign. You will get around 30 seconds to show your video, so you get plenty of time to get across your brand story and message.

Aside from video, there are a number of other options. Messenger ads can pop up in people’s conversational feeds, while carousel ads can be great for showing a range of products in a store or shop. Each has its advantages, disadvantages, and will have a differing price scale.

5. Watch Your Frequency

When looking at your analytics, keep watch on your frequency score. The number indicates the number of times a person is seeing your ad. If it is two or three then your average click through rate is great.

However, higher numbers are not good. They show that your ad is being viewed a lot but not being clicked. Essentially, people are not interested enough to click it and you should tweak your audience or change your ad.
