8 Tips For Making Infographics

March 22, 2020 / by Andrew / Leave a Comment

Back in the day, infographics used to be a primary element to grab all the attention. However, that’s no more the case. Today everyone is creating infographics. Companies and brands are making a conscious effort to create infographics that are better than other people’s infographics. To tell you the truth, it isn’t an easy thing to do. I too have been making infographics for some time now. Honestly, I have made my share of mistakes. But the good thing is, this experience has helped me figure out a few tips related to drafting infographics. So, here are a few learnings from my end that can help save your infographic from becoming an absolute disaster.

Come up with infographics that please your audience

The ability to come up with a unique and interesting idea for an infographic is the pathway to a successful infographic. Further, to make a good infographic, you need to know what your audience wants or expects from you. Brad, who works with a platform where you can pay for writing papers, says that an infographic that offers the audience what it wants can go viral, grab maximum attention, and gain traction. The biggest mistake that most people make in drafting an infographic is coming up with something that’s excessively popular and not something that’s appealing for their audience. So, keep your infographic targeted, specific, and relevant.

Keep it simple

The biggest advantage of an infographic is that it can convey a complex idea in the simplest form. So, to make your infographic unique, you don’t have to complicate it. Try to keep it as simple as possible, to ensure that people who look at it can understand it in one go.

Make it focussed

Mathew, who offers online statistics homework help services, says that an infographic that’s all about statistics, facts, or figures is bound to be a disaster. In addition to simplicity, an infographic needs to have the focus to appeal to the audience. Try to make it focussed, and streamline it one topic. Always remember that an infographic is not a means to compile all the data. It is rather a means to put forth one focussed point.

Depict things virtually

In all these years, I have seen a lot of infographics. Some of them are more on info and less on graphics. A good infographic is one that has a fine balance of written and visual information.

Promote it well

Fun Fact: An infographic wouldn’t go viral overnight.

If you wish to make your infographic viral and grow in popularity, you have to take measures to promote it. The promotion of an infographic can be done in the same way you would promote a blog or any other content piece. To promote it further, you can reach out to influencers who deal with your niche and request them to feature your infographic on their page. Additionally, it is best to add social plugins to the infographic to ensure that it can be shared on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. You can even request your audience to share it on their page. Always remember, there are several infographics out there. A lot of them get lost in obscurity because the creators don’t take the time and effort to promote it. Thus, if you ever create an infographic, do not let it fade in time. Promote and popularise it as much as possible.

Ensure that it is easy to view

Mia, who offers online assignment help Australia, says that she has seen a plethora of infographics that get lost post resizing. The problem arises when the designer creates a huge copy, and then the developer has to downsize it for it to fit in. During this entire process, the readability of the content on the infographic suffers the most. Mostly, an infographic has fonts in different sizes. It is your responsibility to ensure that even the font in the smallest size is visible to the audience without any difficulty. A good width for the infographic is 600 pixels.

Ensure that the size and length is good enough

The common notion is that infographics are supposed to be big. However, if you make the infographics way too big, you’ll not get the interest of your audience. The maximum length limit for an infographic is 8000 pixels. If you post an infographic that’s longer than that, you’ll lose out on the attention span of the viewer. Further, in addition to the length, the size of the infographic is also important. Some users might have a slow internet connection, so do not let your infographic size exceed over 1.5 MB.

Include white space

Lily, who offers the best data science certification online, says that an infographic is incomplete without adequate white space. A neatly drafted infographic will have a nice balance of elements with substantial negative space for it to look neat.

So, these are eight important tips to keep in mind when making infographics.
