5 Exciting Real Estate Careers: Which One Is Right For You

October 18, 2020 / by Andrew / Leave a Comment

  • Did you know that according to experts, there are more than 15 great career opportunities to explore in the real estate industry?
  • Are you looking to be a part of the real estate industry but do not want to pursue being a real estate agent?
  • Have you heard about other opportunities in the industries like being a real estate wholesaler, or a developer, or even running a brokerage?

If there is one industry, which continues to defy the downward stock market trends, it is Real Estate. For centuries, real estate has been making millionaires year after year. As long as the world’s population continues to grow and land becomes scarcer, real estate as a sector will continue to boom.

Many people believe that the only career opportunities in Real Estate are that of becoming an ‘Agent’. However, in reality, there are plenty of exciting career opportunities, which are different from what Phil Dunphy from Modern Family does (P.S. He is a Real Estate Agent on the show)!

List of 5 Great Career Opportunities to Explore in Real Estate

1. Real Estate Broker –

Technically, a real estate agent works on behalf of a broker. In other words, a brokerage firm can employ a number of real estate agents. The commission on the brokerage is different from what an agent makes.

If you are someone who is entrepreneurial in nature, you can choose not to become an agent, but rather start your own real estate brokerage firm. You can start small with around five or six agents and then grow the venture once your business takes off.

2. Real Estate Wholesaler –

Real Estate Wholesaling is an exciting new opportunity in the industry to make money fast. In this career, real estate wholesalers look for distressed property owners. They sign a contract with them and show the potential of a property to an investor.

The investor sees value after doing some renovations and then selling the same property for a premium on the market when the time is right. Real estate wholesaling is emerging as a highly lucrative career opportunity in the sector.

3. Real Estate Investor –

Many people think that you need to have millions of dollars to become a real estate investor. That is definitely not the case. If you are looking to start, you can get some like-minded friends or family members together and become joint owners of big real estate property.

According to Connected Investors Review, you can either hold on to the property as joint owners or put the property up for rent. This will enable you to start earning according to a percentage of what you have put in. You can start adding to your cash flows and keep exploring similar other lucrative opportunities.

4. Real Estate Property Manager –

A Property Manager ensures that the upkeep, maintenance, and running of any property is taking place in a smooth and efficient manner. This career opportunity in real estate is tasked with the objective of ensuring that the property does not lose its value at any cost.

The better the maintenance of any property, residential, or commercial, the better will be the increase in valuation. Being a property manager is not an easy task. It requires being aware of the finer details and paying attention to all aspects of maintenance and improvements.

4. Real Estate Leasing Agent –

Many homeowners and a lot of real estate developers tend to go for leasing their properties for a stipulated period. It can be for five years, or ten years or even for ninety years. The task of a leasing agent is to find opportunities on behalf of owners and developers.

A leasing agent needs to have great communication skills as he or she is going to be working with both owners and the party, which leases the property. Leasing has its fair share of advantages and avoids all the problems associated with renting.

The Final Word

If you want to be a part of the highly lucrative and profitable real estate industry, you can choose to follow any of the career options stated above. Can you think of some more career opportunities in real estate? Let us know in the comments section below.
