So, if your bike has finally got the best of you, it is okay. Rest assured you have not made a mistake. An epic motorcycle trip is one of the most rewarding traveling experiences. There is no better way to see the scenic views of this country than from a bike.

When planning your route, consider riding some of the best motorcycle roads in America. Whether you want that ocean breeze or a rocky mountain ride, there is a road for you. Read on to discover the top ten motorcycle routes.

Finding the Best Motorcycle Roads

There are a few things to keep in mind as you plan the ultimate motorcycle adventure. Think about how many miles you are willing to travel and how much time you have. These factors will help you design the route.

Consider your top destinations. If there is one specific road or landmark you want to see, chart the path around that. Alternatively, if you are riding coast to coast, this list will pinpoints roads across the country. Perhaps you want to check them all off your map.

If charting a long journey, you should consider finding some riding partners. A team of bikers will make the trip safer. In the event of a motorcycle accident, you will be glad to have your fellow riders along.

1. A1A, Florida

This coastal highway runs along the Atlantic coast of Florida. Along the way, with the ocean breeze in the air, you will hit many of Florida’s noteworthy scenes.

Some of the highlights are the historic city of St. Augustine, the birthplace of speed in Ormond beach, and the Florida Keys.

However, the highlight of the trip will be stopping in Daytona Beach for the famous Bike Week. This is the world’s largest motorcycle gathering. Bike Week should be a bucket list event for every biker.

2. Tail of the Dragon, Tennessee

This two-lane road is a part of Tennessee’s highway 129. This ride is not for the faint of heart. The Tail of the Dragon is one of the most difficult rides on the list. On a map, the curves, crooks, and bends resemble a dragon’s tail.

There are over 300 curves in an 11-mile stretch. Conquering the Tail of the Dragon gives you bragging rights over your biker buddies.

3. Skyline Drive, Virginia

Skyline runs the tops of the Blue Ridge Mountains through the Shenandoah National Park. This is a thrilling motorcycle road. Riders will experience all the stunning colors and foliage or Virginia.

History buffs will also enjoy this route. Many Civil War battlefields and landmarks can be spotted along the way.

4. Twisted Sisters, Texas

If you want to take in Texas, consider Twisted sisters. The three “sisters” are ranch roads 335, 336, and 337. Consisting of a combination of valleys and hills, Twisted Sisters provides plenty of elevation changes.

This ride offers a great look at what Texas has to offer. Plus, it is an ideal mid-point if you are working your way across the country.

5. Needles Highway, South Dakota

There are quite a few good rides through South Dakota, but Needles Highway in the Black Hills is hard to beat. The ride dips up and down in altitude. Needles is peppered with curves and pigtails. Bikers will get a good look at Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park.

If you have extra time, Needles is not far from Sturgis. The Sturgis motorcycle rally is one of the largest in the country.

6. Monument Valley, Utah

If you want red rocks and dry heat, look no further than Monument Valley on the Utah-Arizona border.

Many famous Western films were shot in Monument Valley because of its picturesque scenery. The sandstone formations are an encapsulation of the deserts of the United States.

7. North Rim Parkway, Arizona

This road tracks the Grand Canyon. Do I need to say more? The Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon is more touristy, but Route 67 along the North Rim is the far more scenic path.

The North Rim Parkway will give riders the chance to experience one of the greatest national landmarks in the country.

8. Route 66, Arizona

Route 66 is possibly the most famous highway in America. Although you can ride it from Chicago to Los Angeles, the most historic stretch runs through Arizona.

There is so much to enjoy of this 400+ mile section of road in Arizona. Along the way, you can stop at Flagstaff, the Painted Desert, and Meteor Crater.

No list of great rides would be complete without a portion of Route 66.

9. Big Sur Highway, California

Big Sur California is a breathtaking adventure for bikers. Running the Pacific coast of California, it is the antithesis of A1A. instead of the flat golden sands of Florida beaches, this California coast is all cliffs and curves.

Bikers are flanked by mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.

10. Beartooth Highway, Wyoming

This is better for a summer ride. Snowstorms close the highway in the winter. But, if you can make it up to the northwest, Beartooth is a staggering ride. At over 10,000 ft, in elevation, this is a solid experience of the Rocky Mountains.
