Beginner’s Guide to Proper Pool Care

March 19, 2021 / by Andrew / Leave a Comment

Did you just purchase a new home that has a swimming pool? Or did you decide to add a swimming pool to your existing home?

Either way, it’s going to be very important for you to understand the basics of pool care before you begin using your new pool. If you don’t do the proper pool cleaning at all times, you’re going to start to see your pool water turn green in no time at all.

So, what are some of the things you should keep in mind when doing pool maintenance? We’ve put together a few tips that should allow you to get your pool cleaner.

Start by Skimming Your Pool on a Regular Basis

Throughout the course of a normal day, there are going to be all kinds of leaves, sticks, and other debris that find a way into your pool. You’re going to want to try to get them out prior to them sinking down to the bottom of your pool or ending up in your skimmer.

You can do this by breaking out a net and skimming your pool every so often. You should be able to get the majority of the debris that lands in your pool out of it by taking this approach.

Bust Out the Pool Cleaning Products as Necessary

As long as you skim your pool on a regular basis, you should be able to keep it clean for the most part. But you might have to bust out the heavy-duty pool cleaning products every now and then to deep clean different aspects of your pool.

This is going to be especially true if you have tile in your pool. It’ll be essential for you to invest in the best pool tile cleaner in the business. It’ll make your pool tiles sparkle like never before once you use them.

Make Sure You Keep Your Pool Water Balanced

Balancing your pool water is arguably going to be your most important job of all when it comes to pool care. You’re going to need to keep a close eye on things like:

  • pH Levels
  • Total alkalinity
  • Calcium hardness
  • Total dissolved solids
  • Stabilizer

You can tinker with your pool water’s balance by adding the right chemicals to the mix. You might want to speak with a pool maintenance professional about how to do this at first so that you can get the hang of it.

Practice the Proper Pool Care to Make the Most of Your Pool

Maintaining a swimming pool and performing the proper pool care might seem like a very difficult task at first. But once you start maintaining a pool, you’ll find that it’s not as tough as it might look.

Remember the tips that we’ve talked about today when you start maintaining a pool. They should help guide the way as you look to keep your pool in great condition.
