64 steps

Josh took 64 steps today (with a walker).

He's working so hard. One tiny setback though, his team of doctors decided today that it'll likely be a month from now before he's released.

That's great. A month is not tooo long considering. I hope that once he is released he is pain free and 100%!

Posted by: Heather at September 5, 2006 08:33 PM

So I have seen the rest of you guys the last time tonight! It was a whole lot of fun but I also had to cry a little bit! I donated a bit for Josh It just made me feel better! But He seems to be some kind of Wolverine! So fast recovery is amazing!

I LOVE Y'ALL! Take care guys!

Posted by: Dark-o- at September 5, 2006 08:48 PM

That's amazing news. We're all pushing for you, Josh!

Posted by: Brian at September 5, 2006 09:08 PM

Keep it up Josh. You're one amazing man. Take it slow one step at a time. I'll come visit you this coming weekend, just got my car serviced, should be good to go now :)

Posted by: Mikhail at September 5, 2006 09:10 PM

dude....man.....your incredible

Posted by: Anonymous at September 6, 2006 01:38 AM

Amazing, Josh!

But I think he should take the time to recover to 100%... That can't happen in 2 or 3 months.
The last show should be, when Josh feels good. The last show should be a blast. For Josh as well. So sit tight, people!

Posted by: Tanja at September 6, 2006 01:48 AM

and josh, well get soon...

Wow, for a guy who could have would up in a much worse situation than he is now, that's great news, great work Josh!

And thanks for the updates, even though I've never met any of you past seeing you up on a stage, you've had such an effect on my life, it's good to know how all you are doing too.

Posted by: Rob at September 6, 2006 05:26 AM

:o)
one month?
that´s great news, cause if u think about the gravity of the accident that´s really not a long time to recover! a little miracle i´d say...
and so good to hear!
but keep it slow, josh!most important is a FULL recovery!

our thoughts are still with u!

Posted by: bettina at September 6, 2006 05:47 AM

You know what is weird, Josh?!
I just dreamed of hanging out with you guys again. you were totally recovered. the only thing remaining of your accident was a red scar on yor back. And you were making fun of the accident...I wanted to give you a hug and you just said: NO, NO, please don't. It still fucking hurts. A minute later you came towards me with open arms and I gave you a hug then. Of course you were pretending that it hurts and screamed...And we were laughing about that. You were just as funny as usual!
So after I woke up I just visited this page and got to read you're doing so much better.
Weird, isn't it?!
You're a fighter, I always knew it.
Still best wishes for your full recovery.
Love

Posted by: Kolben at September 6, 2006 09:07 AM

Hey Josh,
we wish you the best for your full recovery. We are very shocked these days: At first we read about the "final" days of bsf! It was and still is a big shock for us and all bsf fans! We cannot believe that bsf will "kill the fire"!!!! And now we must read about this damn accident...we hope you won´t kill YOUR FIRE!!!
Yesterday we saw the band in Darmstadt at their last show in Germany...for us it was a moment full of sadness and anger...but a very great show!!

We hope to see you and all the other guys again!

Best wishes from Germany
Carsten and Tina

Wow - 64 steps sounds just amazing! I hope for Josh it didn't hurt too much!

Keep it up Josh, my thoughts and prayers are with you!

Posted by: Tim at September 6, 2006 12:46 PM

Great News!
I think now we all should learn now to make something out of our life and just enjoy it every moment, cause shit like this can happen any time. But josh also shows us how to fight to get up again! unbelievable, but a few weeks ago a neighbour and friend of me also fell from a rooftop (8 meters)while he was working. he is also back up again! from now on i will believe in miracles cause they are happening! my best wishes go to josh, hope he goes on like this!
i saw bsf last friday in germany, and can't believe that this was probably the last time...
ROCK ON, josh!!

Dearest Josh,

My sorrow goes out to you for your pain and anguish. I am very pleased to hear that you are starting your recovery and doing well. The best advice I can give from my experience with back, neck, nerve, workmen compensation injuries is this:

1) Stay positive! It sounds simple but when you're in as much pain as you are & your recovery is taking longer than expect (which it may), it's very easy to get angry and focus on all the things that aren't working. Focus on the steps you're taking. Don't focus on the steps that you've missed or stumbled. Getting in a fit of rage regarding your condition could hurt your condition more than you think(trust me I just got back from the emergancy room last night after I started bitching & moaning about my injury, which caused my back extreme pain). When you get angry, stop, breath, and count your blessings (or reread all these loving comments from your awesome fans).

2) Be Proactive about your health. Don't take any bullshit from anyone, including doctors. Ask questions and demand answers. If you're not getting what you think you need from one doctor, don't be afraid to ask for another doctor. Speak up if you think you're being jerked around by the doctors, workmen comp rep, physical therapist, etc. And remember painkillers don't really kill the pain; They just mask the pain. A pill (shot) wont fix your back. Be cautious of what is prescribed to you. The doctors get loads of benefits from pharmaceuticals.

3) Back, neck, nerve problems take a very long time to heal completely. (Usually 2-3 longer than they say). Later down the line remember, just because you're not feeling pain, doesn't mean that everything is back 100%. I have a repetitive strain injury to my back that causes problems in my arms that happened 10 months again. The doctors seem to know less about what's going on in my body than I do. If you start feeling shooting pain, tingling, burning, numbing, etc. in your arms, hands, legs, and/or feet it may be nerve damage causing the problems. Neurologists are experts with nerve & brain injuries. Also chiropractors can help a great deal with back, neck, and nerve injuries. A medical doctor mostly likely will never refer you to a chiropractor, however. Medical doctors seem to stay away from treatments that don't involve a pill, a scalpel, or a stethoscope. I've received the most comprehensive care from a chiropractor. He seemed to really listen to what I was saying and he helped me understand things that were difficult to grasp.

I know I am a stranger to you but I care about you and the music BoySetsFire has made over the years. We met once briefly after a San Francisco BSF show; you handed me the set list from that show. It's still tacked to my wall right next to a tour post of BSF.

I don't have any money to send (I wish I did), I am a starving student and I'm out of work on worker's comp disability right now. Money is tight (and it keeps getting tighter). I am sure you understand. I am sending you my best vibes and thoughts. Tonight is a full moon, if you get a chance look up at it and think about the miracle that you're still alive.

I wish you the best of luck with your treatment, healing, and full recovery. Take care.

Life, Love, & Liberty,
Cheryl

Hey Josh,

I'm so glad your recovery is progressing quickly. If the heart and passion of your music are anything to go by, I am not surprised things are progressing so rapidly. Get well soon.

hi boysetsfire,
we saw you for a last time in nuernberg and will miss you a lot! Listening to your music throughout the last seven years gave us a lot of hope and inspiration and really touched my soul!
All the best wishes for Josh´s recovery and also a little one for Nathan!
greetings from regensburg, germany

Posted by: kate at September 10, 2006 01:46 PM

Josh, you are the most amazing person. no matter what happens, you pull through. i know that the day you get released from the hospital, you will be jumping off amps and running around onstage. until that day comes, i know that whatever you do will because you want to play those last few precious shows before you retire. i think i speak for all boysetsfire fans when i say that you inspire us all. we love you and can't wait to see you one last time.

Posted by: Henry at September 10, 2006 09:51 PM

Ummm I highly doubt he'll be jumping off anything for the rest of his life. But I'm sure the last shows with him will be phenomenal non-the-less.

but...hahaha...too funny....^^

What happened to Nathan?

Posted by: Anonymous at September 14, 2006 02:48 PM

Just read above! He hit his head on an amp in Newport but should be ok now. And he defines 'sexy' if you didn't know yet.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 14, 2006 07:16 PM

everyone with eyes and a brain should know that Nathan defines sexy.....jesus, people... come on now.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 15, 2006 12:13 AM

It's good to hear that Josh is doing better. I was hoping that he would be alright. His recovery has been on my mind since I heard about the accident, and my thoughts are still with you Josh, and your family. I hope you pull through with a full recovery.

Posted by: Jon at September 15, 2006 02:13 AM

then i'm blind and without a brain. i can't say someone is sexy who's obviously knowing he is and doesn't appreciate it when girls (and even boys) go crazy about him.
sorry nate, you'd have to convince me with something else than a sexy body and a stunning voice.

good to hear josh keeps on fighting. all the best to you, get well soon.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 15, 2006 06:41 PM

oh snap!!!

Posted by: Anonymous at September 15, 2006 08:50 PM

did someone really just use the term
"oh snap"? wow. why must one attack nathan and all his sexiness? how would you know if he doesnt appreciate it? how did this come to a nathan debate? why on earth would someone say "oh snap"???

p.s. Josh....your a strong strong talented man and i'm very happy to hear of your progress..keep it up! your unreal!

Posted by: Anonymous at September 16, 2006 11:04 AM

Maybe the "oh snap" was meant to be silly (as silly as the sexiness debate) I think it's kind of funny. Anyway the point of this really is that Josh is amazing!

Posted by: Anonymous at September 16, 2006 01:45 PM

So Nathan defines sexy?
I guess this is true. He's a pretty cool guy. Sleezy (and I mean fucking SLLEEEEEEEEEZY) like no other, but I guess he can earn some sexy points.
But he's not even on myspace. There's only so sexy you can be without being on myspace duh

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 12:28 AM

sleezy....pssshhhhh. i'll take that sexiness anyday. sleezy or not. myspace or no myspace. old or not old. i'll take it all.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 01:29 PM

Hahah wow. Nathan you're so loved! Nick Lachey watch out.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 01:50 PM

*wondering what nathan thinks of all of this?*

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 02:09 PM

"hahahaha.." that's what he probably thinks!
or
"..you better shut up i'm sure i hook up with your girl, too.."
ridiculous this whole debate but entertaining, even for nathan i think!!

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 04:31 PM

He probably thinks "god fucking stalkers. I shoulda kept my shit in my pants. Damn you Jack Daniels and all the stupid decisions I made out on tour." Or he's thinking "Man I'm such a fucking pimp, this is why I do this"
either way who frigging cares if the guy is sexy or not and what he thinks. is he not a human being just like the rest of us? will someone scrutinize the shit out of my. ohpleaseohplease

Posted by: Jay at September 25, 2006 05:03 PM

i wish i were one of those stupid decisions on tour

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 09:12 PM

truthfully you really do not as it is not what it is made to be. sorry

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 11:03 PM

oooooooooooooooh whats this?....a little dishing on someone who knows from personal experience?

i must say i'm interested but its a little sad that its under the subject of josh's recovery

sorry josh

Posted by: Anonymous at September 25, 2006 11:35 PM

Hahah oh my god and so continues the days of our lives wtf?

Posted by: Anna at September 26, 2006 12:21 AM

that was very entertaining

Posted by: Anonymous at October 4, 2006 04:15 PM

I think all these accidents are a sign that someone higher up doesn't want you boys to break up. Word to your mother on Nathan's sexiness by the way. For an old redneck, he's got it.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 6, 2006 12:22 PM
