Final Show Postponed
Friends of Boysetsfire, I have been asked to make the following announcement on behalf of the band:
Hold off on buying your tickets or airline tickets for the LAST SHOW!
Josh has suffered a horrible injury at work and is currently in the hospital with a broken neck, 2 broken vertebrae and a collapsed lung.
We do not know how long his rehab will be and will await the final show pending his health.
Sorry but this is most recent news. please keep Josh in your thoughts and hearts. Details will be posted as soon as there are more.
Please know that this is not a tasteless joke. Feel free to send Josh your kind thoughts in the comments section.

John
ps: You could do another European and full blown tour after Josh's recovery to say goodbye to everyone good and proper :D

he was working construction, putting up tresses. he stepped on a 2x4 that had been nailed down, but for some reason, the nails were no longer in it, so it was like stepping on air. He managed to grab a little of the roof as he fell, which is a good thing but he was going to fall headfirst and would certainly be dead or paralyzed. As it is, he is not paralyzed at all, and his spine and spinal column and head are all fine. He got out of surgery yesterday morning and is now sedated most of the time because the pain is incredible - morphine can't even touch it apparently.
He will move to a recovery hospital in 2 days, and will have to wear a neck brace for at least 8 weeks. As messed up as this is, it's quite honestly a miracle that it's not degrees worse.
Anyway friends, keep writing your kind thoughts and prayers for him, I'll print them out and take them to him.

After spending some time with Josh in the hopital today, I am truly amazed by his enduring and diligent spirit -- the boy just does not give up in anything! The first thing he said to me was, "don't worry about me, all this is going to be OK." All he wanted to do was give me hope and dispell my fears -- just like he has been trying to do with his music all these years. Even completely drugged up and totally in pain, he was cracking jokes and filling the room with his personality!
The latest news is that he has one (and maybe 2) broken hip to go along with all his other injuries -- they tried to make him walk today to begin his rehab and the pain was unbearable so they did an x-ray and discovered he broke his hip as well (don't ya think they would have thought to do that before making him walk?). So keep up with encouraging words, thoughts, and prayers...he truly needs them.

JOSH WE LOVE YOU!
Posted by: Anonymous at August 21, 2006 12:24 AM
hey all I visited Josh in the hospital today and read him your comments and they meant a lot to him. Keep them coming.
He's in horrible pain. Josh has an amazingly high tolerance for pain -- he's gone week having a broken arm without realizing it and almost died one time because his appendix burst and he didn't know it until a week later. . . but he says he's in such constant agony.
The Dura-whatever that surrounds the spinal column is torn badly and turns out the surgery didn't completely heal it like they had hoped so he is leaking spinal fluid. Because of this he has to remain completely prone on his back, staring up at the ceiling. He's in good spirits, but he's bored, in tremendous pain, and lonely.
If you know him, visit him. He loves having the visitors.
Finally, to the person that hoped josh would have a hot nurse giving his sponge baths, he wanted you to know that "a semi-handsome man named Nick scrubbed his nuts." He didn't know if that counted.

Hey Josh! Hey Guys!
I don´t want to say some unsuitable things here, but there is one thought, that´s not going out of my mind...
Is this tragic accident which happend to josh, a sign from god and all his holy saints above, that in times like these a political outlet like boysetsfire MUST NOT RETIRE? ...
Seems that one really bad news, is followed by another, sad and more bad news...in the past days...
I don´t want to talk trash anymore, there are more important things at this time.
So Josh, get well soon, i know you´ll make it!!
And remember always one thing: All your fans are with you in our thoughts!!!
All the best to you my dear!!!
Posted by: Anonymous at August 21, 2006 01:22 AM
Some Time ago, a guy in phillie told some true words:
>There are a lot of times, when i think we´ve all fallen into a state of into depression, or hopelessness,... the thing is... that sometimes, all i takes is one little thing, to turn your whole day around, to turn your whole life around, and the reason why i feel this is important, is because it is important to us, for us all as human beings, to treat each other with respect, and with kindness, and be cool to one another, cause otherwise, whats the point of talking about revolution and change, if we can´t even be cool to each other in here?<
So fans and freaks, if you know the song, i´m talking about, feel free to write out the lyrics for josh... maybe it turns joshs day around a little...
Peace!

What a double-dose of bad news. I nearly lost my voice the one time I saw you guys @ The Social in Orlando. I have turned countless people on to BSF through the years and they all loved it. The new disc and dvd are on heavy rotation at the practice space/party spot. When you scream, we scream. Forever.

Dear Josh, i wish you a lot of strength to get better! I can't describe the feeling I got, when I read the news. First you guys quitting, and now the accident... I really hope you'll be on your feet again soon.
As for the rest of the band, I'd like to thank you for your music, which has given me inspiration and strength to go on. I'm so sorry to hear that you won't be around anymore. Of course I do hope you'll be back in Europe (The Netherlands!!) again with Josh for one last time...

"Is this tragic accident which happend to josh, a sign from god and all his holy saints above, that in times like these a political outlet like boysetsfire MUST NOT RETIRE? ..."
Ignorance/lack of intelligence at it's finest. Yeah God incapacitated Josh so he could KEEP playing music.
We all wish BSF would continue, but this isn't really the topic of discussion here.
Best of wishes to Josh in his recovery. Prayers to him and his family....

Posted by: UsedRomance at August 21, 2006 06:02 PM
Dear Josh,
we are really worried about you.
Shocking news.
It's so sad you cannot join the European farewell tour. We're quite sure you wanted to say goodbye to all of us just like we wanted to say it to you.
But that is not what it is about.
Most important is that you make a quick recovery.
Horrific to hear you suffer a lot of pain and they even tried to make you walk with broken hips (...freaking idiots).
But you are so strong and brave and never give up!!
Where do you get that strenght from?!
Whenever horrible things like this happen we realize we complain too often about things that are not worth complaining at all, like the weather, the guy next door who is listening to shit music, the driver who is not able to distinguish between green lights and red lights, not to mention our flat is not as big as it should be and our car is not as luxurious as we wanted it...and so on.
Being thankful for health, a warm meal and a bed we can sleep in, surrounded by nice people we love and who love us back is not worth an appreciation in everyday lives too often.
We became aware of not complaining about shit anymore now.
We are fucking fine while you are in hospital, in pain, bored, staring at the ceiling and still trying to calm down your family and friends.
You are an amazing man.
From the bottom of our hearts we wish you no more pain, a good and fast recovery and strength to get through this bad time quickly.
Our thoughts are with you and your family.
Get well real soon!!
Love from a whole bunch of German fans.

josh,
i'm so sorry to hear about you accident. all you need to worry about is getting better. the rest of the fans and i will wait as long as it takes for that farewell show in philly. just know that we are all behind you and will keep you in our thoughts. it had to make you feel good to see you cowboys beat up on the saints last night though. even if it was preseason. what a catch by terry glenn, huh?

Josh,
At a Salt Lake City show a couple years back, you gave me your guitar pic and hugged me afterwards. Maybe because we talked before the show, but I really dont know. All I have to say is that meant the world to me, and I still get all choked up about it.
Get Well

Get well soon Josh, I wish you will be standing on your feet soon and be able to play guitar for us as soon as possible. Follow your dreams and everything should be alright. I wish I could see you on stage one more time in Canada.

Josh... Just listening to Not In The Running still makes me quiver.
Aside from your building job, you are an amazing architect, along with your brother and friends. Even across the Big Blue, you have my best wishes and i can only pray for a swift recovery.
Hell, it only took a horse to take down Supes. Rise above it, and who knows. I'll buy you a cape.

benefit US tour .... benefit US tour .... benefit US tour.
so what if it is ignorant or cheating? seriously, if one of MY bandmates was in this condition, my band would probably do a benefit show or 20. make a bit of money and they could see how much support bsf really has.
