Announcement
dear friends,
it is not with a heavy heart that we write these words but with a head held high. we wanted to collectively inform you that BOYSETSFIRE has decided to retire.
thank you all for your support and belief in us over the last 12
years...please know it meant the world to us.
BOYSETSFIRE for us was always a vehicle for changing the world and we
believe that change comes about by starting with yourself, so instead
of awaiting certain things to come our way, as always we decided to
take our destiny in our own hands.
we're not sure which path each of us will take from here on out, but
we plan to continue following our dreams...
we will play all the shows of our upcoming european tour (dates posted
below) and possibly one or two last shows on the east coast sometime
this fall (we will keep you posted on this)
good-night,
BSF

sorry if anyone is bummed but we have some bad news...
So this is the deal.
we are playing the club dates with i am the avalanche.
we are looking forward to these as we hear that vinnie is no longer edge. and we loved him before.
we are only playing three warped tour dates due to various financial and logistical matters that would frankly bore you.
that is all.
we should have some more good news soon.
sorry if anyone is bummed out.
thanks.

it was late and we were lost in london.
it was late and we were lost in london. really lost. and it was time to go home.
after all gene and i had already been asked to leave one pub due to our overzealous local friends. then we went to another, had a fruit juice, discussed most influential hardcore bands (my list? nation of ulysses, deadguy, samiam, refused. yeah try to deny refused.) (his list? atreyu, bayside, aiden, boysetsfire, my body, my blood) (hahaha gene!) it was nice but we had a flight coming up quickly and gatwick was well far from london and international flights are annoying if done without proper rest.
it was definitely time to go home. we walked our dear friends ben, cammilla and emma to their hostel which i personally was nervous to go into due to the movie of the same name but was actually safe as houses (you like that?) gave them kisses goodnight and started back to the hotel.
then realized we had no idea where we were.
no idea. camden town or something? maybe we were in white chapel! time for a mini cab back because we actually had the address of where we were staying. (this is better than the one time in berlin where i had no idea where the bus was and had to be humiliated and ask someone “where did boysetsfire play tonight?” awful!)
so we found a minicab stand and gene quickly made the arrangements.
they asked if we minded if a small blonde shared the cab with us.
no we dont mind.
got in the cab and spoke to the driver, a large black man with a ready smile and a thick accent.
“Travel Lodge at Kings Cross please.”
the blonde who had seemingly passed out against the window stirred into action.
“you sound american”
“well, we are”
“all americans are assholes!”
keep in mind we were literally hip to hip in the back of a cab.
i was quiet. one quickly learns to keep their mouth shut especially in a dodgy situation like this. i didn’t fancy a stabbing in the back of a cab. an international flight with a astabwound would just well suck!
“you hear me? all americans are assholes!”
in my ear. loudly.
“well i understand how many people feel that way but i feel like i personally am trying to do something in order to right a situation i know america has caused...”
“so you are an asshole!””
“well thats not nice is it? i mean what do you have against americans?”
did i mention she is wasted...i mean dean martin wasted, slurring, weaving, loud to soft patterns of speaking. possibly cracked out as well.
“with your hey dude! hey! man! and your WASSUP bros and your hey dudes! all americans are assholes and that means you are too!””
“you know every american?”
“I dont have to asshole!”
“ok well you sound irish?”
“Damn right i am irish!”
“well some people say not very nice things about the irish....and thats wrong because stereotypes are hurtfull and not true...”
“what do they say!”
“I dont wanna say...”
“say it! SAY IT! SAY IT FATASS! SAY IT!”
“I won’t you cant make me drop to your level....i won’t say it...i won’t say it!”
“AMERICAN ASSHOLE!”
the taxi stopped at my hotel.
I got out, said thanks to the driver gave him some money then went in.
don’t have a point really. this happened.
notes from the plague: have some news regarding warped coming very soon...other dates will be added as well. thanks next time the story of the customs agent that got really mad at my laptop.

london calling; or a tribute to friends, bandannas and flipflops
last day of tour. was a great short little ripper pretty much topped off by last night is essen which was killer, although could have been disastrous since a certain reggae band had an hour sound check and then played for two hours which is completely thoughtless. i guess too much smoking down babylon huh?
caliban was very gracious and cut thier set short so we could play some and for this we were very grateful. it was very nice of them to do this. anyway the show was a blast. although it was an ALL DAY event it was still a very nice time and we were treated with a lot of respect and all that good stuff you know. dinner was absolutely delish with a vegetarian noodle dish. yummy!
so every tour has a fad that catches on in the band whether it be certain video games or a catchphrase. i remember on our tour with death by stereo everything was uttered in a Creed like jawrock voice "YEEEEAH!" funny for us annoying for everyone else. on this tour it was definitlely bandannas and flip flops.
It started when i went to Corpo-Mart to buy socks for tour. i saw a three pack of bandannas in a corner and had to have them. i kept one and gave the others to gene and chris who are our loyal crew guys. we were a gang flying our colors. and everyone wore flipflops ....uh i guess i thought there was a beter story here. i guess not.
OH AND I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SWITZERLAND AND SWEDEN! SHUT UP! I MADE A MISTAKE! HOW IS YOUR BAND'S WEBLOG?
guess thats it right now. got some news coming soon. love and revolution...josh

world cup fever! now there is a fever you can’t sweat out!
anyone else watch my adopted team beat the argies in a thrilling overtime win? wow...that was just incredible and since our fricking tour is now almost all germans (not really) it was absolutely thrilling to see everyone so excited about this truly thrilling sport.
so we sit in ragensburg, oise’s home town which we were led to believe was a tiny village deep in the black forrest but it really isn’t...it is an actual city. i expected to see goats eating on the sod roofs but no... just normal big city stuff you know.
yesterday was sweden and we played at the most unrock hour of 12 o clock which was just agony especailly if you are used to sleeping until at least three everyday. the show was quite fun however, with the deftones and keetcar (which is ..but alive’s new band who i am quite the fan of!) bus call was at eight o’clock which was....wierd. so the whole day was tilted and confusing as oppessed to our normal days which are....yeh. i guess nothing is normal right now huh...
tomorrow will be prague which is my favorite city..cant wait....i am a little sad i wont be home for all the bar-b-ques...but that is the life we lead huh...then a day off in prague. i really hope i get to see a show. it is like the marionette capital of the world...
see ya all soon...
