fin.
my hands are trembling as i slowly type these words on my apple computer.
the exhaustion is literally pulling me apart as i realize.....this is the end.
last show.
flensburg.
what a great tour. you guys were great everynight. some nights when we were tired or sick or not “feeling it” one look at you guys was all we needed to jumpstart our show and realize that we had a duty to do our best every single fucking night.
and we tried.
i know sometimes we disappointed you but that is normal in every relationship. isn’t it?
so many funny stories....
in berlin we were asleep in our bus when a loud knocking from outside was heard resounding throughout the sleeping area.
“hallo! Hallo! this is gyro! from burning heart. Hallo!”
great. gyro worked for burning heart and literally never left us alone. he was always on our buts with photoshoots interviews meets and livestock contests. it was very annoying.
“hallo! come on!”
he picked up nathan and put him in his strangely grandfatherlike buick (gyro is a hip young berlin dude, so it was an incongrous choice of vehicle to say the least.)
chad and i followed gyro into his enormous buick which he then drove at frightening speeds through the crowded berlin city streets. nathan texted home a good-bye because we thought we were dead. nope, not that lucky.
“gyro where are we going?”
“kliene interview...nosing really..”
you get out. go to star bucks. she meet you there!”
bye gyro!
next thing we knew we having makeup applied because we were going on live tv, interviewed for twenty minutes by a stylish young fraulinne wearing the latest in prada.
we hadn’t even brushed our teeth. this is not good.
uh, can we do our hair?
“Nope! come on you look great!”
suddenly we were on live national tv being asked about our new record and what we thought about germany.
we had to judge men on hot or not. then eight women begged nathan to strip and even gave him a horrible little pair of red briefs to change into for the dance.
he wouldn’t do it. he blushed beet red.
our lives are very strange.
notes: sorry about the sweden shows. the promoters cancelled the shows and there was nothing we could do about it. hopefully we will make it back soon. if you live in berlin we are going to be hanging out at the magnet club in berlin as part of our berlin vacation. come on out and say hi.
cheers...and tribute to nothing rules. check them out please.

water fight
sorry the lapse betwixt updates. the shows have been a blast as always in europe with last night in bremen being an outrageous affair that ended in a stage drenching water fight. it was the most fun we have ever had in bremen, bar none. it was awesome.
this is how it started.
nathan has a habit of spitting water on stage from the very first note on so that by the end the whole stage is extremely slippery and we can barely walk around. last night we decided that enough was enough and it was high time there was justified retaliation.
on the first chord of rookie i grabbed one of the giant water bottles we are supplied with and opened it and chased nathan around the stage until he looked like he had just taken a bath. in his clothes. all while playing rookie.
of course didn’t take this lying down. he erupted in water a veritable aqua vesuvious spraying water in all directions. i hid successfully for a minute or two behind my cabinet but he was not to be denied. he caught me and sprayed from head to two in freezing cold water. the floor and our equipment looked like a water park.
lemme think...oh berlin was great although the police came and made us turn off the pa system because a neighbor complained. i thought that was odd since so36 is one of the greatest clubs in germany if not europe and it seemed strange that they would have such severe noise restrictions.
we are all doing well. tour is almost over. shows in sweden got cancelled so we only have two shows left then we have a three day berlin vacation which sounds heavenly to me. we were on a live tv show where eight girls tried to get nathan to do a strip tease and he refused. maybe i will talk about that later.
xoxoxo

munich...home
dear diary!
how can i put in words how good our day in munich felt for all of us but especially me, being born and raised here...
having declared it the world's best city a long time ago (maybe around the age of 15 and perhaps since then battled for my love for stockholm) and just overall loving this city...my parents came by with beer and snuff for soundcheck, so the festivities started early and the show later on that day was beyond anything we could've hoped for...it was sweaty and awesome and i couldn't believe how many people came out to party with us...after the show we went to the other backstage club, where they held a hip-hop night...so the east coast signs were flying through the air and we stayed til we had to roll around 5 am...
what a day! thank you to each and everyone who came out...it means the world to me...DANKE!!!!

tour diary - switzerland
dear diary,
we're in switzerland currently trying to recharge our batteries after a fun show in basel yesterday night...we all had a lot of fun and the nice peeps at the "sommercasino" treated us perfectly well and even fed the skinny vegan (namely me!) with cruelty-free specialties...matt and me took a long walk throughout the inner city of basel and took pictures of this old and wonderful town...of course we also bought swiss chocolate for our families and went into a church, etc...pretending to be tourists and not travelling musicians for at least once a day is really helpful in reloading the batteries...makes you feel almost like a normal human being : )
today there's nothing to see really, since the club in Wil is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but we make the best out of it and retreat to the tikki-lounge backstage area where reverend rakus is currently residing next to me on a zebra couch confessing last night's events...i went to bed early the last couple of nights, so i missed all the fun after the shows...i couldn't get myself to be more active than have a couple of adult beverages with the blessing of the reverend together with the beautiful people of tribute to nothing...a very cool band and if you love good music you should check out their new cd!!!
it's been such a good time to share this nice tour with them...they truly deserve to be heard and all in all this tour is perfect and we're stoked.
i feel like a goddamn hippie (that i of course am...everyone who knows me can attest to that...i just hide it well & deep within indian spirituality, haha), but what can a young man do when he lives a dream with his best friends???
exactly...smile and then smile some more...
so now i''ll watch the new beatsteakes dvd again and sing along to germany's best band...flyswatter coming in a close second!
be good and treat yourself well nice friends and i write more soon.
peace.

still touring europe
dear diary,
internet access...finally. oh how i missed the bits and bites and all the 0 and 1 and whatever else the matrix of these digital days provides us with...so we're in germany now and to say we've been blown away by all the shows so far is putting it really mildly...it's been fucking amazing!!!
first and foremost a big thank you to all of you who took the time to come out to the shows so far...we truly appreciate it.
we had a beautiful evening in amsterdam, followed by a salsa night where my friend anna from eurotaph (the european division of epitaph records) tried to teach me how to dance salsa...
i failed but it was a lot of fun...night ended around 8 am and yes, it was also st. patricks day which led us to an irish pub close by and i bonded with my non-existing irish heritage and overall it was a blast...so thanx a-dam!
now we're back in germany and of course i'm stoked and things couldn't be better...
i leave you with my current playlist:
sade-lovers rock
sinead o connor-throw down your arms
and then some more sade...
peace

guys so sorry we haven't been writing
but we have been so busy and without the internet. oh yeh, the pain goes deep.
so i write you from the great nation of belgium which has long been a favorite place of ours to play. the people are nice, the food is good, shows generally insane because belgium is the capital of european metal. it it true, ask anyone.
it was truly sad to say goodbye to england. england we love your shores and love your people, uh if only you were a little cheaper!
goodbye to all we met, hopefully we will see each other soon and hopefully under warmer climates. it has been mad cold up in this piece. i am talking freezing like a mug. colder than bat country. which actually leads to a funny story....
we played at the mean fiddler on saturday night. we love london, always have, prolly always will. but we were met with a disturbing site when we got to the venue, about a thousand hot topic kids in eyeliner and mesh things.
Wot is this then?
they rushed to the bus screaming, pounding on the door. our intrepid tour manager opened the door (as you know a philly kid is always ready for a fight) the crowd immediatley hushes in the finest needle off the record tradition.
Uh sorry to bother you....
yeh?
Really dont mean to be a bother...
but are you guys in Avenged Seven Fold?
no.
oh sorry then.
oh great the biggest band on the planet are playing upstairs from us. the ones with the american flag backdrops and the prowar views. the ones who brag about doing the most coke and the most whores.
joy.
hope someone comes to our little show in the downstairs venue.
the chirren looked so sad when they realized that we were just another band and not the second coming of guns and roses.
so london actually was awesome the place was packed and they seemed receptivce to the new songs and we had a blast playing. london was great as london always is.
later that night we tried to go to a bar/late night eatery to spend some time dave our booking agent. the krobar was packed, sold out. we spoke to the doorman who informed us it was sold out noone can come in.
wait hold on... he said, grabbing my sleeve.
are you guys avenged seven fold?
no.
then never mind.
just our luck. we had to go to an eighties metal club.
c ya all soon!

tour diary - london heathrow/bradford, UK (day off)
greetings young jedi nights!!!
so our european tour started on a fine note with a travel day flying into london heathrow (sometimes we feel like tom hanks "the terminal", stuck in this very airport for far too often/long...), having some fine english breakfast there and meeting up with our bus. since HIFH decided not to be part of the tour, we have this doubledecker all to ourselves for the english dates, which is nice in a way...it gives reverend rakus the chance to have daily prayer meetings and indoctrinate our humble selves with his divine thoughts.
...after loading our belongings onto the bus we rushed off to bradford, UK where we'll play tonight...and near the club a vegetarian indian restaurant manifested itself in front of our eyes, which made especially the vegetarian/vegan members of our little band extremly happy...after this unexpected healthy dinner we roamed bradford for a bit and played pool, got a tiny bit tipsy and fell into our bunks...oh yeah, me and chad finally watched "meeting people is easy" the radiohead movie, after talking about it for close to 4 years...what a great movie!
i have to say it feels really nice to have the whole bsf gang together again...gordon, the reverend chris rakus, gene and us band-dudes...we're all ready to be on tour and have fun after the 3 long years leading up to this record...to put it frank: we're stoked!!!
we're loading in soon, so i leave you with my best regards and hope you're well...
yours truly.

new song on myspace
wassup y'all! so we got a new song posted of our new record the misery index. you can listen to it by using your mouse and clicking here it is one of the first songs we wrote for this record and it is in nearly the same form as when we first wrote it.
its early saturday morning in elkton and i am freezing. i can't wait until we tour nice warm europe and can hang with all of our friends there. we have some news on that tip but can't really go into it right now.
so i guess i will go outside and do some yard work. i recently had a tree chopped down (because it was dead, i am not cruel) and have branches scattered everywhere.
see you all in Philadelphia tomorrow. got the cds yesterday and quite honestly they look awesome. can't wait till you guys can see them.
