sleep is what happens when you aren't paying attention

hey all!
greetings from cologne, our german home town, the equivalent of newark delaware, one of the greatest cities in the world. finally got some good rest last night, about twelve hours to be exact, and we feel rested and recharged. quite different than last night however.....

we left newark at about three thirty after we had to of course jump the van. (we jump the van everytime we start it. some day i guess we’ll buy a new battery but not yet!)
the flight was uneventful, nathan and i got aisle seats because we are the Aisle Way Crew. i had to board while my beloved cowboys were still in doubt, even after an amazing flea flicker touchdown pass. anyway, not much really to discuss but i watched a nice movie called the Wedding Crashers which was pretty good. i guess i slept at some point because i remember waking up. had some horrible veggie food. bleh.
we got into london at around two thirty in the morning our time but it was like seven thirty in the morning their time. matt informed us with a rogueish grin that he had forgotten our work permits so now we were entering the UK illegally. ah, fun. entering countries illegally is a hobby for us, especially when we are carrying guitars and merchandise. joy.
Border Agent: “Sir business or pleasure?”
me: “Business...uh..pleasure? pleasurable business? crap!”
BA: “Where are you staying?”
me: “uh, i don’t know..somewhere?”
BA: “you don’t know where you are staying?”
me: “Gordon, where are we staying?”
BA: “who is he?”
BA: “Forget it, go on....”
we slept for an hour in a travellodge which had no running water. so no shower yet. love showering after a flight. didn’t get to shower much at all on this tour. i will let you know how the show went after dinner.
so the show in london was the longest set we have ever played and it was one of the most fulfilling. everyone was really warm and sweet and we appreciated everyone coming out on a monday night in a great city like london. we played twenty songs and even had a three song acoustic set right in the middle which was a nice break for everyone. us included.
the show was bookended by photoshoots and interviews and interviews and photo shoots. we like shots not shoots! anywho....
we had a five oclock flight out of london to berlin which meant we had to be in the hotel lobby at four. we got in at two thirty which means a wake up of threethirty. this is after we didn’t sleep previously. so we were pretty much delirious by the time our plane touched down in berlin for another whirlwird round of interviews and photoshots and we also did this weird thing for mtv europe where we just yelled. remember when i was talking about doing awkward things when you are in a band? well this day was full of it. our good friend gero from burning heart was a heartless bastard who drove us into the dirt like dogs. interviews photoshoots...uhh....the show was awesome and so was hanging out with our german friends. berlin is very special to us and we love
koln was a dvd shoot for the misery index cd that will have some copies with special edition that comes with said dvd. got some good sleep finally and felt incredibly refreshed if a little sore from the previously evenings’s exertions. guess what gero had in store for us? more interviews and more photoshoots. it was amazing how many interviews we had to do. but we really enjoyed all of them, even if if it looked like i was falling asleep, because i wasn’t. i swear.
so anyway i know this is incomplete and i have so much more but it is not 3.30 in the am in sweden and i get up at seven and fly and we are going home and i will tell you all about the week when i get home, kisses bsf

I think BSF should be greeted in Newark with a camera crew and tons of screaming teenagers.
Sounds like everything is going great on tour, minus lack of sleep. I'd like to now officially put my vote in for a BSF New Year's Bash with another 20 song set.

Hey guys,
thanks again for the brilliant conversation we had in cologne. I seriously don't remember having such a good time during an interview, also Nathan and Robert were very kind and willing to answer in more than just a few sentences. The show was killer, too, so come back as soon as possible!

Interview will be online tomorrow!

Posted by: tobias at December 18, 2005 11:04 AM

20 song sets should become the norm not the exception!!!

Posted by: jason at December 18, 2005 05:34 PM

that sounds like a pretty rock solid adventure

Posted by: odle at December 19, 2005 12:21 PM

twenty song set...damn!

on a side note, let's get an mp3 of a new song up in this bitch!

Posted by: dan perrone at December 19, 2005 02:30 PM

@ Tobias: Where´s the interview???

Posted by: T. at December 19, 2005 03:13 PM

@T.: Interview has been delayed, will be online end of january / beginning of february, since the record is released in february... be sure to watch out!

my account of the london show
petrol from leeds to luton and back - £30
train/tube tickets including luton - £14
Food - £10
Entry for gig - £10
2 overpriced colas - £4
seeing bsf play an amazing set (and mess up a little on suckerpunch training) - priceless
