diary (promo tour)
dear diary,
sorry for me not being in touch more, but life kept me and the rest of the bsf pretty busy.................
first up let me thank each and everyone who came out to the 4 shows in europe making it a truly amazing little tour...this also includes the nice folks who came by to do interviews, made us scream @ the MTV studios, took pictures and overall crowdsurfed, fingerpointed and sang along @ the shows...namely YOU!!!
thank you so much and let's do it all again soon...i can't believe how fast these days went by, especially regarding the lack of sleep and food. but hey...it's cool how much nice things people and journalists said about the new songs. couldn't ask for a much better promo tour, except the sleep and the food ; )
right at the end of the whole week we got to go to my favourite country in the world: Sweden.
and we shot a video for our first single REQUIEM in gothenburg...the director was the nice viking warrior Roger Johansson, who we chose because of his work with "demons & wizards" (this is a lie, but we DO love blind guardian!!!) and seriously: check out the terror-train in the demons & wizards video, haha
the video was more hard work and a ton of fun...we played the song all the way through about 35 times and got some good shots i hope...i have yet to see the outcome, but of course trust roger and hope for the best.
other than that i wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year and see everysingleoneofyou next year on tour!!!
peace.
robert
p.s.: and if you haven;t heard the new ryan adams record yet...shame on you!

sleep is what happens when you aren't paying attention
hey all!
greetings from cologne, our german home town, the equivalent of newark delaware, one of the greatest cities in the world. finally got some good rest last night, about twelve hours to be exact, and we feel rested and recharged. quite different than last night however.....
we left newark at about three thirty after we had to of course jump the van. (we jump the van everytime we start it. some day i guess we’ll buy a new battery but not yet!)
the flight was uneventful, nathan and i got aisle seats because we are the Aisle Way Crew. i had to board while my beloved cowboys were still in doubt, even after an amazing flea flicker touchdown pass. anyway, not much really to discuss but i watched a nice movie called the Wedding Crashers which was pretty good. i guess i slept at some point because i remember waking up. had some horrible veggie food. bleh.
we got into london at around two thirty in the morning our time but it was like seven thirty in the morning their time. matt informed us with a rogueish grin that he had forgotten our work permits so now we were entering the UK illegally. ah, fun. entering countries illegally is a hobby for us, especially when we are carrying guitars and merchandise. joy.
Border Agent: “Sir business or pleasure?”
me: “Business...uh..pleasure? pleasurable business? crap!”
BA: “Where are you staying?”
me: “uh, i don’t know..somewhere?”
BA: “you don’t know where you are staying?”
me: “Gordon, where are we staying?”
BA: “who is he?”
BA: “Forget it, go on....”
we slept for an hour in a travellodge which had no running water. so no shower yet. love showering after a flight. didn’t get to shower much at all on this tour. i will let you know how the show went after dinner.
so the show in london was the longest set we have ever played and it was one of the most fulfilling. everyone was really warm and sweet and we appreciated everyone coming out on a monday night in a great city like london. we played twenty songs and even had a three song acoustic set right in the middle which was a nice break for everyone. us included.
the show was bookended by photoshoots and interviews and interviews and photo shoots. we like shots not shoots! anywho....
we had a five oclock flight out of london to berlin which meant we had to be in the hotel lobby at four. we got in at two thirty which means a wake up of threethirty. this is after we didn’t sleep previously. so we were pretty much delirious by the time our plane touched down in berlin for another whirlwird round of interviews and photoshots and we also did this weird thing for mtv europe where we just yelled. remember when i was talking about doing awkward things when you are in a band? well this day was full of it. our good friend gero from burning heart was a heartless bastard who drove us into the dirt like dogs. interviews photoshoots...uhh....the show was awesome and so was hanging out with our german friends. berlin is very special to us and we love
koln was a dvd shoot for the misery index cd that will have some copies with special edition that comes with said dvd. got some good sleep finally and felt incredibly refreshed if a little sore from the previously evenings’s exertions. guess what gero had in store for us? more interviews and more photoshoots. it was amazing how many interviews we had to do. but we really enjoyed all of them, even if if it looked like i was falling asleep, because i wasn’t. i swear.
so anyway i know this is incomplete and i have so much more but it is not 3.30 in the am in sweden and i get up at seven and fly and we are going home and i will tell you all about the week when i get home, kisses bsf

a drink with boysetsfire (in europe)
so we're getting ready to hop on a plane on sunday afternoon and jet over to visit my fellow-europeans, which is pretty exciting.
it'll be only 4 shows, but we brought some suprises with us (musically speaking), so if you live in london, paris or berlin please come by for a drink or two and say hello to good ol' us!!!
in case you're uncertain who of the people in the club/bar we are look for the small guy smashing jaegermeister shots on the wall in berlin...
i hear cologne is already sold out, but be sure we'll be back soon enough to play for whoever ended up not getting in this time around...
other than that we'll do press for the upcoming record and try to enjoy ourselves as much as possible while over there...
meeting our new friends at burning heart and ruining their lifes too is also on the task-list...
a video might be shot in sweden...possibly with vikings running around trying to get with nathan and matt burning down a church somewhere up north, but these are just my ideas, haha
overall we have a retardedly long list of old/superold and new songs we want to play so get ready for some sweat and some more sweat (don't stand too close to chad in the first place if you're not down with a human shower!!!)
in case you're still wondering where and when the 4 shows will be, please check out the street section or call josh!
this has been a rough fucking week for me and why is none of your business, but i love you all and see you soon.
peace.
robert

the dumb stuff we do....
so there are many things about being in a band that border on the absurd. i certainly am not complaining, playing in boysetsfire is most of the times really fun and defending rewarding. but there are some things that just make you feel a little red-faced and silly, especially if you are doing something that your friends at home will almost definitely make fun of you about.
on thing is the whole, “my name is josh and i play guitar in boysetsfire and you are listening to WJERK! the rock of bucks county and surrounding areas! yeah!” man i feel stupid doing that but i do it because nice people ask me too and i can’t help but say yes to nice people. it’s a curse, i know, i know.
another is the dreaded photo-shoot. normal people don’t do this, you know? stand around with some friends and try to look cool while a less-than-stoked photographer desperately tries to achieve some degree of hipness with five rednecks from delaware, maryland, and germany. (and yes robert is a redneck. bavarians are the rednecks of germany. you know i am right!) we try to do something original but it usually fails miserably.
the video shoot is another bizarre aspect of boysetsfire. we have only done one video in our history and it was pretty fun, we got our friends together and had them all involved in the making of the video.
now before you film a video you have directors send what is called a treatment. a treatment is basically a little description of the video and how it will be filmed and all that. the treatment can be unintentionally hilarious much like we recieved for last years nest.
this video had a monkey sitting in the oval office, talking on the phone, signing laws, being busy. the monkey was the main character and the video featured a scene where nathan and the monkey danced around and had a blast. uh....really?
on a deeper note. america has just executed its 1000th person. this makes me feel so sad inside. i am not going to talk about it too much, but we are the only first world country to have the death penalty and still we are the most violent nation on the planet. senseless. actually, maybe it makes sense after all
