NEW EXCLUSIVE FREE DOWNLOAD (VIDEO & AUDIO)
we just posted a brandnew exclusive song in the SIREN section. just like the other two songs on there this song is absolutely free, so pls check it out and we hope you like it. it's another song that didn't make the cut.
but it gets better!!!!!: our friends Jason & Collin did a DIY video for the song, which came out awesome...you can see the video in SIREN as well. THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL NEW BSF VIDEO from our upcoming album, but something worth seeing regardless...
"dear george" was also written in the period over the last 2 years and we really hoped for it to be non-relevant after the election 2004, but oh well, it still is and that's why we decided to share it with y'all...
obviously the video is strongly connected to the content of the song (hence the title).
pls make sure to watch the little visual for it. a big thank you to jason and collin for all their hard work on it...we truly appreciate it.

the road less traveled
dear diary,
so the bsf camp (including the beloved mr. gordon "more game than gum" joines, reverend rakus & gene "the merch bin is mine" shaw) is getting ready for it's longest outing in 2005. as you have maybe encountered in THE STREET section already, we'll be touring 2 weeks with our friends from strong island (FATA) and then another week with FALL OF TROY, our EVR labelmates...this week will see us getting all of our dusty equipment together, packing and playing one more DE show on the 29th...and then it's up & down the right coast.
if you have a chance to swing by any of the beforementioned shows pls do so and know we really appreciate your support and interest. come up to us and say hi, chances are we're not doing anything and welcome meeting new friends...
so come out and make sure to be safe.
love,
robert

well, we raised money for katrina survivors
which is good, of course. and we played our hearts out to an appreciative crowd of aged drinkers comprising of way too many of our close friends and families. and we did it with a guest drummer michael who appears courtesy of the bouncing souls. beers were drank, bands played, and it was all for charity so that made us feel good. carrying our gear through the rain? that made us feel wet.
so the day started out pretty innocently really. robert spent the night so we had a nice quiet day which was only marred by the dreary weather which reminded us of London in July. We went to borders, shopped for a few books, had some coffee, and before we knew it, it was time to head on back the house for quick preshow practice. Michael got stuck in traffic so we relaxed patiently discussing the absolute mayhem we would be having later that night. after michael arrived and we rushed through the songs (we have some strangely arranged songs!) matt, nathan's cousin and pat helped us carry our equipment into the van and then we were off, running very late of course. got to the club, loaded in and went to have some big beers at a neighboring pizza joint. things started to blur together after that point!
we would like to thank jacquline from the elktones for putting this whole shizznit together (good job!) and the bands and everyone who participated, even if you just sat in the corner and drank whiskey sours.
good times! thank you michael for helping us out.

getting ready for the show
last night was the first time we practiced in a couple of months (hey we've been doing a record here!) and of course the first time with a guest drummer (thanks mike!) and it sounded suprisingly good no matter how hard we tried to make it suck. trust me if we dont sound right tonight it is because of certainly not micheal he is gonna sound excellent. this should be an interesting evening to say the least and packed with good times and all that.
sorry it's a over 21 show, we really apoligize but we insisted because nathan is going to try out his new risque stage outfit with the assless chaps and bra and we didn't want children being exposed to that. so come down to the colliseum and have fun and raise some money for some woman name katrina. i guess she is not doing well? oh well. josh

This Friday
Hey Everyone,
greetings from the BSF camp, where we're extremly excited to announce that this friday we'll be not only playing our first show in a pretty long time, but also have some backup from one of the best drummers in today's punk scene. Matt unfortunately won't be able to make it to the show on friday, since he has to attend a wedding (not his own!) in Wisconsin...to not cancel the show (it is a benefit after all) our good friend Michael Mc Dermott from the Bouncing Souls will fill in for Matt...
I heard him yesterday rock out to his i-pod in my basement playing BSF tunes and it sounded great...i think it'll be different and a lot of fun.
We wanted to take this opportunity to thank Michael for his support!!!
Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!!!

we will be touring after the holidays
i noticed that there were some comments about us not touring in your home town. Some people seem irritated or angry that we were simply doing the east coast and then calling it a day. This is not necessarily true. We will definitely be touring all over the place after the record comes out in February, starting in Europe and then touring the entire USA after that. No plans yet, but we have been discussing South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and anything else we can come up with.
This brings up an interesting question. Who should the BSF tour with in the coming months? We would welcome any suggestions you guys may have for the European and US tours as well as the Australian and all the other tours. We will listen to any and all suggestions. love, the bsf

A joyous time for boysetsfire
I have a little secret to share with the world. And it's gonna shock some people, bigtime. Are you ready?
If you can handle it, please read on...
Boy Sets Fire are all fans of some professional sports team. And i don't mean casual fans that maybe check the scores or perhaps leisurely read articles about their team and discuss it with friends; no I am talking screaming, crying, fall on the floor fans. You can find us most every sunday watching football at our local watering holes
I think we know what you are all thinking- this is the revolutionary political band hugging strangers because Donovan McNabb was sacked for the fourth time? Well yes it is. We cheer for the Cowboys, Steelers, Jets, Broncos, and the Packers (Robert's adopted team but really he loves Munich 1860). The reason I love spors is pretty elemental. It truly acts as a bridge between all people and a wonderful way for people who ordinarily would not speak to each other to have a common bond. If I were in a bar in western Pennsylvania and sat down next to a union iron worker and began blathering on about my opposition to Bush and his war and why he is stupid for supporting it, i would get an elbow in the mouth. But if i started by saying, "So you think Ben is gonna be alright after that injury last night?" we have a good foundation for a great transfer of ideas.
The Left for too long has been the elite bastion of egomaniacal jerks who insist they know what is right for "those people." It is time we let our hair down a little and enjoyed a good game of football.

The Shape Of Us To Come
hey everybody.
i'm back from my visit to the fatherland and it was great to see my family and friends over there...we are actually playing 2 shows (for the first time in many years) with my old band MY HERO DIED TODAY in Munich and some other German city to celebrate the release of a MHDT discography on DANCING IN THE DARK records (of old BSF roadie and friend Oise Ronsberger) in December...if you live around the Munich area come to the show on the 27th of December! i keep you posted where the other show will be...
other than that Chad and Nathaniel are on their way to bring Lou Giordano our songs/babies to mix and i can't tell you how much it means, that Lou is doing the mix. He is not only a great and humble guy, but truly one of my favourite producers (i mean, come on...he was the Husker Du sound guy for christ's sake!!!) and he supported us strongly ever since we first met him a while ago...this filthy and corrupt music world doesn't have many people like him in it.
i wanted to take this poourtunity to thank Lou for all he's done for us...
soon we'll get started getting together to rehearse for the upcoming shows and the FATA tour...it'll be nice to see our crazy brothers from strong island again...
ben also promised me to sing on a couple of ryan adams-esque songs i have laying around...we'll see how that goes. he's really the only one who loves mr. adams as much as me : )
(as far as i know anyways...)
so life is good and we're all grateful we were able to make this record and have Lou mix it and so on,,,
be safe and i talk to you soon.
Haribol. Smile.
Robert

you have got to go to this site
it is a hilarious and informative on-line game that uses one of our songs. we are proud to be associatted with this game. it is fricking cool.
my brother jason found it online and actually were playing it at our parent's house. in the open sequence there is a hilarious montage where voltron has his way with the statue of liberty. of course this is when my mom looked in and wanted to know what we were doing and saw lady liberty in a compromising position. and us giggling like schoolgirls.
the opening montage is awesome and features some of the greatest american heroes we have ever seen. please play this game.

we are done! the record is done!
ladies and gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure and much pride to annouce that the misery index is officially tracked. we have been to three studios in three different states worked with three different engineers and slept very little over the last couple of months. this is such a cathartic moment.
we would like to take a second and thank everyone who gave us breaks or bent the rules in order to help this record come to fruition. thanks to evr/bh for their support and belief in us. this is very exciting for us, to create the record we wanted to create.
Another exciting item to report is that Lou Giordano has agreed to mix our record. Lou was our first choice to mix and we are very gratefull that he is willing to do this. Lou is awesome, he has done most of our favorite records. We would also love to thank his manager Andrew who worked so hard to make this happen.
The updates won't stop though, Robert and I plan on annoying you guys on a nearly daily basis for the rest of our live's together. We plan on adding video at some point but Jason my brother won't let me use his recharging cord thing so I got no camera (just kidding, he will let me use just not over night!)
additionally, our reissues are coming out this month so keep the eyes peeled.
love,
the bsf

This website is brought to you courtesy of Elany Arts
We have gotten many comments regarding our new website which have been overwhelmingly positive. I thought I would take a second and introduce the guys who worked so hard on the technical and creative aspects of the website and to extend to them our gratitude for all their hard work.
Elany Arts is a local company run by two escapees from the corporate world, Joseph Kempista and Jason Latshaw. The company was founded on the belief that web sites should be easy to use and pleasing to the eye. Their favorite employee, Collin Palkovitz, is both.
They specialize in web-related endeavors but are expanding into video, film, print, ambiguous frog photography, lawn technology, and dabbling into possible felonious telephone pranks.
These are good guys and I urge you to check out there website elanyarts.com. We really want to thank them for all their work.
