EVR STATEMENT

Our dear friends from EQUAL VISION RECORDS put the official news about us signing to EVR on their site today...check it out under

www.equalvision.com

Here's what we have to say about this glorious day:

"BOYSETSFIRE team up with BURNING HEART and EQUAL VISION RECORDS

In times when the so called alternative or punk rock music scene makes you turn and run the other way, wishing that roots music would rise beyond slogans, marketing plans and record label mind control again, it is important to make a choice as a band or an artist in general.

a choice to re-gain why you started playing music in the first place in an environment that is not only beneficial to what you're all about, but helps you push the envelope, pushes you in unknown directions and just overall supporting you in being yourself.

i think we as a band have made this choice and freed ourselves from things we felt were in the way of what we wanted this band to be; emotional music instead of emo, dangerous instead of pretentious, political beyond slogans and personal beyond what's considered "cool".

In the end it's us: 5 guys standing together to make this record happen. a piece of music we love, not just a collection of singles. a journey throughout the musical landscapes we care about. sometimes heavy, sometimes fragile, basically us. the essence of the band, yet definitely new ground in a lot of ways.

We're proud to announce that we signed to BURNING HEART and EQUAL VISION RECORDS to put out our new album "THE MISERY INDEX: NOTES FROM THE PLAGUE YEARS". We feel this goes way beyond a token business partnership. We did not check in with other labels and compare advance payment plans. Not one. This was our dream. An ideal scenario of a strong alliance and we can't wait to put this record out sometime in january 2006 and tour for it with partners like both labels.

So in essence nothing has changed, yet everything has changed. We're still a difficult band to work with, we still believe in this band as a vehicle for personal and musical growth (outside of new market masturbation) and we still owe this band to never compromise. But that means we have to express ourselves exactly how we feel it's necessary. To write the same record again and again is the actual selling out. So this is different. We hope sincerely you like it as much as we do and we leave you with an embrace and a raised fist.

Here's to the Plague Years!

Damn, i wish my band could go this far with that DIY attitude... but it's so damn hard...

i totally agree with josh...EVR was one of my favourite labels since i was 16 and i remember a whol year of waering pretty much only my 108 hoodie to school with a big evr logo on the back...and now i'm a 27 old with a HOLYNAME tattoo and a record out on EVR.
so it all worked out great as far as i'm concerned.
thank you for the positive feedback on our decision and the site.

Man I am so excited to hear things are on the up and up for BSF. You guys are incredible I grew up near Newark and remember hearing your stuff and just being blown away. Between the message and the intensity you guys were incredible. I've found so much inspiration in your music. I'm glad you hear you guys are with a label that will let you be original and not fall into what is sadly becoming the "new punk scene" or as I like to call it CRAP! Keep being yourselves and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise, because individuality and self expression is the strongest weapon one can have.

Hey guys I`m from Ecuador (South America), I just wanted to tell you that is so awesome to see that everything is going well with BSF and I wish you the best of luck with the new record I know is gonna be great. I really respect you in every single way, it`s nice to see that theres a few bands out there that still care about what`s goin`on in the world these days, so many fucked up things, war, crimes, etc and have a positive attitude.
I hope sometime you can come down and tour south america that would be awesome you guys have a lot of die hard fans here.

In a time when alternative music is "shit" the last thing we need is for this band to think put out another record. Give up and go away nobody will miss you.
